Chephrena Mbouombouo is a German and Cameroonian filmmaker and artist based in Los Angeles. She has a strong interest in dark humor, exploring themes of racism and sexism and juxtaposing them with campy, retro, and whimsical visuals. Her films have been shown at multiple film festivals and showcases.
She studied Film/Video at CalArts and graduated in 2018. In 2020 she got a Certificate in TV Screenwriting from UCLA.
She directed, wrote and edited the short AMARANTHINE (2018) which has been selected for five film festivals and has won for Best Student Director at the Aphrodite Film Awards and an Honorable Mention for Editing at Top Shorts. She has worked at various companies as videographer and editor creating recipe videos, promo and social media content. She has worked for HAUS, Netflix and Parkwood Entertainment.
